Daily Bowl or Soup Bowl? Choosing Your Shape

Mist blue and cream Verllage stoneware bowls with figs and berries on a sunlit coastal terrace

Both of our shapes hold exactly 28 fluid ounces — three and a half cups. The choice between them is not about capacity; it is about how you eat. Here is the honest breakdown.

The Daily Bowl: wide and shallow

Eight inches across and just over two inches tall, the Daily Bowl is closer to a deep plate than a classic bowl. That geometry is why it ends up doing everything: pasta gets room to be twirled, salads get room to be tossed, grain bowls get room to be arranged instead of piled. It stacks low, so a full set disappears into one shelf.

The Soup Bowl: tall and steady

Seven inches across and three inches tall, the Soup Bowl trades width for walls. Those high sides keep soup, oatmeal, and ramen hot while you eat and make the walk from counter to table steadier. The smaller footprint also means it takes less cupboard and table space — useful on a crowded dinner table.

Choose by your menu

If your week looks like pasta, salads, rice bowls, and breakfast cereal, start with Daily Bowls. If it looks like soups, stews, chili, oatmeal, and late-night noodles, start with Soup Bowls. Ice cream is a tie: shallow for sundaes you decorate, deep for scoops you protect.

The honest answer

Most tables end up wanting both — a set of one shape as the daily workhorse and a few of the other for the meals it serves better. Since every colorway is available in each shape (the Soup Bowl adds one extra, a dusty Lilac), you can carry one palette across both, or use the shape change as an excuse for a second color story.

Care is identical either way: dishwasher and microwave safe, away from open flame and preheated ovens.
